Our Values.
Taipa Marae is grounded in values that shape how we welcome, how we gather, and how we care for this place and each other.
Manaakitanga
Hospitality and care for others. Every visitor is fed, looked after, and made to feel they belong here, whether they're whānau or arriving for the first time.
Whanaungatanga
Relationship and connection. The marae exists to keep whānau connected to each other.
Kaitiakitanga
Guardianship. Looking after the whenua, the buildings, and the taonga here so they remain for the generations coming after us.
Wairuatanga
Spirituality. Respect for the wairua of this place — in the wharenui, on the whenua, and in how we hold tangihanga and other significant occasions.
Tikanga
Doing things the right way. Protocol isn't a formality here — it's how we show respect to those who came before us and to each other.
Aroha
Love and compassion, especially in hard moments. This is what carries whānau through tangihanga and brings people back for celebrations too.
